COPD & chronic respiratory support

COPD makes every breath a battle.

If you’re living with COPD and struggling with traditional breathing support, you’re not alone.

Many patients find masks uncomfortable, difficult to tolerate, and hard to live with. There may be another approach worth discussing with your care team.

Equipment is provided by licensed home medical equipment provider.

The struggle is real

For many COPD patients, breathing support may be necessary — but that does not mean it is easy to live with.

Patient struggling with mask

Masks can feel uncomfortable and restrictive.

Patient adjusting mask

Skin irritation, sores, and pressure may make it hard to keep going.

Patient uncomfortable with mask

Sleep is often disrupted, leaving you more tired.

For some patients, mask-based support can be difficult to tolerate.

That’s why some are exploring a different, external approach.

A different approach

A solution that works with you

Biphasic cuirass ventilation (BCV) is a clinician-configurable respiratory support modality delivered using The Hayek system, a prescription medical device. It may be used in both hospital and home care settings to provide non-invasive external ventilation through a cuirass shell. The system can also assist with secretion clearance management as part of a broader respiratory care plan. Use and configuration are determined by the prescribing clinician in accordance with FDA-cleared device labeling.

  • External chest wall approach
  • Does not require an airway interface
  • Configured by a prescribing clinician
  • May be considered in appropriate patients
