Meet Tilly Griffiths

We at Hayek Medical are proud to share Tilly’s story. We admire her and her caregivers for their fortitude in overcoming the challenges that life sent to achieve a big dream.

The therapeutic benefits of Biphasic Cuirass Ventilation, combined with the highly effective airway clearance and cough assist provided by the Hayek, offers a strategic way to fight the key respiratory problems in SMA and other types of NM weakness at home. BCV, noninvasively and naturally helps to decrease the reoccurrence of pulmonary infection and improve the quality of life for SMA patients and those fighting on their behalf.

BCV and Post Polio Success

Jacqueline Singleton

As a Post-Polio patient, positive pressure ventilation (PPV) is just not an option For Jacqueline. Using mask ventilation such as BiPAP® only puts her at risk of further complications, or as Jacqueline puts it, risks “bursting her lungs like a balloon!”

At one point, some suggested she receive a tracheostomy and be put in a long-term care facility, but she’s “just not ready for that”.

With BCV™, she’s been able to do all the things she was told she shouldn’t be able to do with her condition. Jacqueline plays and teaches recorder. She plays archery. She gives tours at the fine art museum. She lectures and advocates for those with post-polio. She even took care of her Covid – 19 positive grand-daughter. To put it simply, “BCV allows me a normal life,” says Jacqueline. Nothing is going to get in the way of this graceful and inspirational woman, including post-polio.
